Single Of The Day-Bob Luman “Lonely Women Make Good Lovers”
Greetings from Asheville, where good music is always found on the turntable, in the CD player, or in the MP3 player. Your Single Of The Day is a 1972 release from Bob Luman. Bob had scored his first hit back in 1960 with the Country and Pop hit “Let’s Think About Living”. While it was his only Pop hit, he would become a fairly regular figure on the Country 40, beginning in 1964 with “The File”. By the end of 1977, he would total twenty-one Country 40 singles, with four climbing into the top ten.
The biggest of those top ten hits, is today’s Single Of The Day. Released by Epic Records in September, 1972, “Lonely Women Make Good Lovers” climbed the charts to a peak of four, before the end of the year. A distinctive intro kicks things off and it just gets better, from there, giving you one of the classics of the early 1970′s. Worth noting that our photo isn’t that of an original issue 45, but rather a later reissue on Epic’s Memory Lane.
Saving vinyl, one record at a time.
