Classic Album Review-Johnny Cash “Blood, Sweat, And Tears”

It's a popular misconception that the Beatles made the first concept album. In all actuality, concept albums, where all of the songs are related in some way, were being made before anyone even knew of the Fab Four. For instance, a perfect example is Johnny Cash's “Blood, Sweat, And Tears”, from 1963, an album full of songs that cover life experiences that involve blood, sweat, and tears.

Country Songs That Define The 1970′s.

What songs would you say would best define the 1970's in country music? So far, we've looked back at the 1950's and 1960's, and this week, it's the 1970's. The decade started with The Nashville Sound still in full swing, but by the end of the decade, country had changed, with more rock influences, the outlaw movement, and a stronger pop-influenced sound than ever before.

When you think of country music from the 1960's, what comes to mind? Smooth vocals with lush instrumentation? Folksy sounds not too unlike the folk artists of the time? Loud, raucous, rockin', twangy country? Maybe pure honky tonk? Actually, if any of those come to mind, you would be right on, as to what 1960's country music was.
