Single Of The Day-Dan Seals “They Rage On”
Greetings from Asheville, where good music is always found on the turntable, in the CD player, or in the MP3 player. Your Single Of The Day, today, takes you back to the Spring of 1989, when Dan Seals was a top ten regular, in fact, a regular to the number one position. As Spring dawned, Dan was riding a string of thirteen consecutive top ten singles, and nine straight number one singles, making him as hot of a commodity as nearly anyone being heard on Country radio, at that time. ”They Rage On” was his next single to hit the market. Would it continue the strings?
Debuting on the Country 40 in April, “They Rage On” would race up the charts, and did, indeed, become Dan’s fourteenth top ten single, but it did end the string of number ones, as it peaked at five. Dan wouldn’t stay out of number one for long, though, as his next two singles, “Good Times” and “Love On Arrival” would both return to the number one position, becoming his final two hit singles. In all, Dan would have sixteen top ten singles, with eleven number one hits. As for this particular single, great song, simply put. Haunting, lonely, outstanding lyrics. As good of a single as any in his career, in my opinion.
Saving vinyl, one record at a time.
