A New Journey
Here it is, the start of a new endeavor. A new journey to take. The Ultimate Twang blog and on-line radio show. It’s a look back at life, liberty, and classic country music. Okay, mainly classic country music, and life. The show will feature music from country music’s beginnings all the way through the start of the 21st Century. In addition to the music, we’ll look back at our lives, through the years, the events, the memories, and the emotions, among other things. It is my hope that both the blog and the show will at some point make you laugh, cry, sing, think, shout, ponder, dance, and so much more. Most importantly, I hope you will be entertained by what you hear and read.
This project actually started over two years ago, with the idea to showcase country music’s complete history; as well as to justify to my wife why I needed to keep all these boxes of records and cd’s. I’m kidding on that last part.
And what will this blog cover? Music, of course. Mainly country, but from time to time, I may touch on something from another musical genre. It will also cover pop culture items, and in both cases, often from a nostalgic perspective. Plus, from time to time, I will blog about other things of interest, as well. Sports, railroading, art, gardening, just about anything could pop up on this blog, at some point.
As for the program, it will be classic country music, covering the entire spectrum, from the first recordings in the early twenties, through the first part of the 21st Century. Our play list contains mainly recordings that have appeared on country music’s Top 40, as well as a few songs that fell just short, some inspirational songs, and of course, at Christmas time, Christmas music. When you listen, you will certainly hear music that you remember, you will likely find some new favorites, too. Plus, I can promise that you will not have to worry about hearing the same few songs over and over, as there are approximately 7,900 songs in the Ultimate Twang play list. The program will begin production, very soon. Keep checking the blog and the website for more information.
As previously mentioned, it is my hope that the blog and the show will both be more than just something to read or listen to. I hope that reading the blog and listening to the show will be an experience that you will want to keep coming back for. At the very least, I hope it will bring some joy into your day.
Your input is always welcome. Whether it’s a song you’d like to hear on the show, or a memory you’d like to share, or perhaps a topic to blog about or mention on the show. Please feel free to pass it along.
And finally, at the end of many of these blog entries, I will include a useless fact. Something that likely won’t have anything to do with the subject at hand, but something that you might find of interest.
So, let’s take this journey, together, and see where we wind up. We’ll have some fun, along the way, share laughs, maybe a tear, and rekindle some pleasant memories, as well. This will be fun, I promise.

Very interesting blog, Mike. Keep up the great work. Wish Terry could see this.
