Songs That Defined The 1990′s

Were the 1990's Country music's best decade? I wouldn't say that, however, it was outstanding. Great music, great artists, and a general excitement that hadn't been seen in country music in decades prior. There was traditional country, country-rock, some country-pop, even some bluegrass mixed in.

Remembering Burl Ives

Who might be the best known voice, this time of year, thanks to a classic Christmas recording, as well as a popular children's Christmas special? If you were to guess Burl Ives, you'd be correct. Every year, at this time, the radio airwaves, once again are filled with holiday classics from artists who otherwise aren't given the time of day by radio stations. Artists such as Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, and Burl Ives.

How about a rail line that I wish that I could go back and see in action? There are actually several, but one in particular, would be the Lehigh Valley.

Songs That Define Country Music In The 1980′s

How do you define a decade with music? It's a question I've pondered each of the past three weeks, as I've given my picks for the hits that defined the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Now, it's the 80's turn. Musically, the 1980's are an interesting decade to look back upon.

My (Future) Model Railroad Empire

I am planning a model railroad. Realistically, I don't know when, if ever, it will get built, but if and when it does, it will be my empire. I've been collecting the materials for years; the track, the rolling stock, buildings, locomotives, a good collection of materials needed

A Name From The Past – K. T. Oslin

I don't think this could happen in today's country music atmosphere; a 45 year old unknown female vocalist, releases a record that not only becomes a big hit, but also an anthem, of sorts, for all women in her generation. No, in today's country music, where it seems for someone to have a chance, they must be very young, have a marketable look, and frankly, being blond doesn't hurt. Talent? Not important. No, in today's music, it just couldn't happen
